Hughes House - A Resurfacing Project
I did not create this model; I resurfaced it. This is a model of the Hughes House, which is a historic home located on what is arguably the westernmost point of the continental United States, Cape Blanco Oregon. It is now Oregon State Parks property, and is within the Cape Blanco State Park. The original model was created many years ago by W.M. Hulburt. The paper tag in the middle photo says, "As seen in the 1970's". It was completed with green walls, dark green trim, and a red roof. The prototype has brown walls, off-white trim, and a shake roof. I was again contracted by the Cape Blanco Heritage Society, this time to change the appearance of an existing model to match the prototype more closely. I used artists' acrylics for the walls, and for the roof I photographed, "photoshopped", and printed a pattern. Click on the image at left for a closeup. More images below, click each to enlarge.
