Exploding barns = art! Three representations of barns found in central western Oregon, USA. framed facias.
In an attempt to facilitate presenting models as art, I wanted to experiment with the concept of the exploded view. Presented here are three barns I photographed between Reedsport and Cottage Grove, Oregon. The roofs and sides were constructed separately and are not intended to be assembled to form a three-dimensional structure.
The first is the Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets. The prototype structure can still be found today in Cottage Grove, Oregon, USA, at the intersection of Goshen-Divide Highway and Chamberlain Avenue. The model is constructed of basswood and the graphic is airbrushed. 2002. 16"x26"x1.5", HO scale (1/87 scale).
The second model presented here is a barn that was nearly falling down and hidden behind blackberry bushes. The cedar shake roof and exposed sub-structure caught my eye. 2002. 16"x26"x1.5", HO scale (1/87 scale).
The third barn is a fictional piece. 12"x22"x1.5", HO scale (1/87 scale).
Each barn has a beer-bottle honed from a fancy toothpick head. Can you find the beer bottle in each?
